This is probably one of the most popular of degree courses. This is because business acumen is a skill that is simply vital in the present capitalistic world where everyone seeks to make a profit. From a simple grocery shop to a multinational giant company, business administration and management is needed thus the course is highly marketable in all the corners of the world. Whether one is a doctor or a scientist or botanist, you need someone to manage your firm for you and if you get some spare time, you can take the course yourself and save a lot of money in the process.
The undergraduate course popularly known as the Bachelor of Business administration is a four year course that requires full time study (actually it needs 120 credit hours) and features one or more areas of various business segments. It is called the BBA or the Bachelor of Science I Business administration (BSBA) in some universities though the course contents and requirements are the same. Most of the time, the BBA course teaches general business courses with opportunities for specialization in advanced courses towards the end of the course.
Most of these business administration programs are actually accredited to show that the universities curriculum has met certain specified quality standards. A good example of this accreditation is the Association of Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). It is highly regarded as a popular business program accreditation and most universities that offer the course have subscribed to its standards. However, it is also not short of controversy over its quality judgment methods.
BBA courses vary when it comes to the subjects that students learn. Most are business oriented and serve to make the student well aware of the contemporary methods of business administration augmented by supporting subjects such as economics, office management, accounting, finance, business law, businesses ethics, statistics, quantitative techniques, organizational behavior, business research, operations management, strategic management, a guide on taxation, management information systems, communication, marketing, supply chain management and a host of other varieties of management. These subjects are common but not applicable to all BBA programs though the differences may be slight especially on the management subjects.
Most of these programs allow students to specialize on such academic fields as Finance, entrepreneurial skills, accounting, management, management information skills, sales and marketing, operations management, and many other related fields. The MBA or Master of Business
The Business Administration course is a very dynamic course and time and time again, its subjects have been revised to meet the emergent needs of the current corporate world. This is why accreditation is very important for the course sine it enables professionals to control the quality of graduates being produced by these business schools. It thus remains a very relevant course.
